What is it?
A substance such as composite, amalgam gold or the like used to fill a cavity caused by tooth decay or trauma.
Fillings are a standard part of dentistry, most people will have at some point had a filling and with modern dentistry they are quick and pain free.
Fillings are used to restore a tooth back to its regular function and shape caused by carries in the tooth (decay) or from trauma to the tooth such as a trip or fall.
What can you expect from your visit to White Smile Dental for a filling?
Once you have made an appointment you will be sent a reminder text the day before with our details and address. Upon arrival you will be asked to fill out a new patient form and take a seat in our comfortable waiting area.
When called for your appointment our dentist will access the affected area, take xrays if required and discuss all options and cost for your filling. You may wish to have the filling done there and then or decide to come back at a more convenient time.
Before applying the filling the dentist will clean the affected area of all decay or round off any sharp edges as a result of trauma. They will then fill the cleaned cavity with filling material.
What types of filling are there?
Composite fillings (White) are the most common type which are matched to the colour of your tooth and are used when a natural appearance is desired especially towards the front of the mouth.
Porcelain (bonded) fillings are used when a high aesthetic look is required especially on the front couple of teeth where they are most visible.
At the time of your appointment all cost and available options will be discussed and clearly laid out for you so that you know exactly what the cost will be and how long each filling will take.
From €90 – €150 depending on the material used the size and time it takes and also your preference to how it looks.
